History of the street

Souq-El-Selah Street is considered as one of the oldest monuments in Egypt.

The 700+ years old street was built in the Mamluk era. The street was named like this due to a lot of weaponsmiths located in the street and as the street used to arm the castle in the Mamluk regime.

The street used to be called (Souq-El-Ezzy) after prince Ezz El-Dean one of the princes of the Mamluk regiment.
